Cisco Catalyst 9164 series CW9164I-MR hỗ trợ chuẩn wifi 6 và wifi 6E (6GHz), với công nghệ MU‑MIMO hỗ trợ 12 spatial streams. Wifi cho tốc độ tối đa 7.49 Gbps (4x4 160 MHz trên 6 GHz, 4x4 80 MHz trên 5 GHz, và 2x2 20 MHz trên 2.4 GHz). Với các ưu điểm trên, wifi phù hợp với mô hình mạng doanh nghiệp vừa và nhỏ.
CW9164I-MR có khả năng tự động kết nối thông minh, khi wifi phát hiện các máy khách có hỗ trợ tần số 6 GHz, và nếu các máy khách đang kết nối ở tần số 5GHz thì wifi sẽ tự động chuyển sang tần số 6GHz, giúp cải thiện tốc độ mạng 1 cách hiệu quả và nhanh chóng.
Access points Cisco Catalyst 9164 series có thể được quản lý tại chỗ bằng bộ điều khiển Catalyst 9800 Wireless Lan Controllers (WLC) hoặc được quản lý bằng Cisco Meraki cloud management.
